25. Tell us about the last book you read.

The last book I read was The Thing They Carried by Tim O'Brien (for school). There's lots of stuff I didn't enjoy about it since it's about war (various scenes describing the torturing and/or killing of an innocent usually baby animal), but overall I loved it. The way it was written really captured the essence of war; and O'Brien's take on "truth" was very interesting- how the truest stories aren't true. they have to be fabricated to convey exactly one's emotion. That really added another level to the story and gave it depth. The first chapter was my favorite in how it used symbolism to describe what the soldiers carried; whether if they happened to be rations, pictures, or the burden of fear etc. It really gav each character dynamic.

I'm currently reading Jane Eyre- and am completely in love with it. It is the greatest Gothic romance I've ever read. It's just amazing in it's message, style and element of 19th century "Gothic". I love Gothic Literature so of course I'm in love with it.
